Anthony announces federal infrastructure funding in Temiskaming Shores

September 15, 2016 – Temiskaming Shores, Ontario—Infrastructure investments are vital to creating jobs, strengthening the middle class and building more inclusive and efficient communities where families can work, learn and play.

Today, Anthony Rota, Member of Parliament for Nipissing – Timiskaming, on behalf of the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, and Carman Kidd, Mayor of Temiskaming Shores, announced that improvements to infrastructure in Temiskaming Shores are now moving forward, thanks to federal and provincial funding that is supporting projects in municipalities across Ontario.

In Temiskaming Shores, this includes a federal investment of $2.1 million for the construction of a pumping station and upgrades to associated infrastructure that will provide additional sewage capacity during peak flow periods as well as permit future development in the area.

This project is part of thirty-five municipal infrastructure projects in Ontario valued at $141 million that will move forward immediately, thanks, in part, to the federal government’s Small Communities Fund, which supports priority infrastructure projects in communities across the country that have less than 100,000 residents.

These investments across the province will ensure that small municipalities have infrastructure that is supportive of economic prosperity, strong communities and a clean environment. The residents of Temiskaming Shores will benefit from improvements to their infrastructure for generations to come.”
Anthony Rota, Member of Parliament for Nipissing – Timiskaming on behalf of the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities

“The joint federal-provincial infrastructure funding being announced today will enable the City of Temiskaming Shores to upgrade its wastewater system by adding a new pumping station.
